Realising the rights of persons with disabilities

                   E-Books Launched

   Friday 24th May 2019

‘RISE’ delivered by Save the Children in partnership with Callan Services for Persons with Disabilities National Unit and Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) in Papua New Guinea took another step forward in its work to improve the quality of education through early childhood development including deaf children. RISE stands for ‘Rapidly Improving Standards in Elementary’.

The three organisations in the RISE Consortium officially launched its e-Books at Callan Inclusive Education Resource Centre (IERC) Gerehu in Port Moresby yesterday. Callan IERC Gerehu hosted the event to allow invited guests and participants to have a feel of the launch in a school setting.

Speakers from Save the Children, Australian High Commission, Callan Services National Unit (CSNU) and Department of Education acknowledged the good work done by the consortiums supported by funding partner, the Australian Government through DFAT.

The e-Books are now available online which can be accessed via Bloom Reader App.

As a token of appreciation for hosting the event, Save the Children presented Gerehu IERC with a projector and a Mobile phone. The gifts were handed over to CSNU Director Br Kevin Ryan and Gerehu IERC Coordinator, Belinda Sausi.
